The Metabolism Conference (MET-CONF) 24 – 2nd edition of the Metabolism – Clinical and Experimental (PDMCE) Conference is an event organized by first-year doctoral students in PDMCE at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP). This conference follows the success of the 1st Conference and the Metabolism Symposium. These events, organized by the Biochemistry unit of the Department of Biomedicine at FMUP, have seen high attendance throughout their various editions.
MET-CONF 24, which will feature the presence of nationally and internationally recognized experts, is aimed at healthcare professionals, researchers, and students from various fields related to metabolism, including inflammation, endocrinology, and nutrition. Attendees will also have the opportunity to present their research work in the form of posters, oral communications, and speed talks. To celebrate excellence, the most outstanding presentations will be honored with prestigious awards.
This edition, scheduled for October 25, 2024, at the Medical Research Center Auditorium (CIM) of FMUP, will focus on the theme “Metainflammation – a hot topic in metabolic dysfunction.”
From a translational perspective, we will navigate throughout the day between basic sciences and clinical sciences, exploring sub-themes of metainflammation, starting with systemic inflammation, moving through the role of the microbiome-inflammation axis, and concluding with a captivating debate about the concept of metabolically healthy obesity.
